You probably don't need an upgrade. If you do, you might be able to get one here, but read this first. It might help. It's my email correspondence with Ellion's support.
Mine was recording random shows, random channels, random times.
I stuffed it when I mistook the duration box for the end time. Machine was throughly confused, understandably. Pity they don't check the entered data for sanity.
Fixed mine just with a factory reset. Here's how to do that.
1 - set a password on the machine if you haven't got one already
9. Press Setup Menu
9. Press Preference
10. Press Factory Reset (Master Password : 98201)
(You prolly don't need their master password.)
Anyway, on with the correspondence. Remember, the conversation's in reverse ;-)
Cheers, Mike.
PS - no the damn thing can't get stereo terrestial broadcasts. Keep that in mind if reviewing for purchase!!
PPS - it CAN play MP3 DVDs, but is limited to 999 tracks.
Dear Michael,
Thanks for your e-mail.
The firmware of your recorder is the most recent version. We think there is
some mistake regarding setting up the timer recorder. In order to use the function
of timer recording, you should set the time on recorder accurately.
Regretfully, the recorder can not support stereo broadcasting.
Best Regards,
Nillson Han

Dear Michael,
Please check firmware version of your set. You can check it as below.
Under the condition of "No disc", press "7", "7",
"ENTER" button on remote control in order. And you can see firmware
version on TV.
Please advise us of it.
Best Regards,
Nillson

Certainly.
I have four events scheduled to be recorded. Here's what I had programmed to
be recorded.
SUN: 1900-30 minutes - Channel 2 -Peole being stupid.
MON: 1930-90 minutes - Channel 5 - South Park
SAT:1830-60 minutes - Channel 3 - AFHVS
SAT: 2225-50 minutes - Channel 2 - Braithwaites
All are set to SLP quality.
On TUESDAY it turned on at 7:34pm and started recording channel 5 until I told
it to stop. That wasn't in the schedule. It's done similar things quite a few
times.
It also does not receive stereo terrestial broadcasts.
Purchased: from AuctionBrokers in Australia. (Receipt below.)
My model is without SCART.
I believe a firmware update can be run from a CD-R, but can't determine which
one to run.
Kind Regards,
Michael Kean.

Hi! Sorry, that telephone line was shocking! Just managed to make out your email
address.
I am trying to find a firmware update CD for an Ellion DVR-900a (PAL model with
no SCART.) My unit is about 7 months old, and sometimes turns on and records
at random times and channels.
I can't find a specific update for my model on your site.
Sorry about the phone line - not normally that bad!
Kind Regards,
Michael Kean.
